We are seeking an Independent Contractor- Brass Tutor

to support our students beginning Term 1, 2025.

 

We are Calvary Christian College - situated in Townsville, we are a co-educational independent school providing excellence in Christian education to over 1,100 students from our Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.

The Calvary Education Group encompasses Calvary College, Calvary Early Learning Centre, Calvary Teaching School, Calvary OSHC and Eaton College, a special-purpose educational facility for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Brass Tutor to promote instrumental education and culture at Calvary Christian College by providing tuition as an Independent Contractor. This agreement will commence in January 2025, and would suit someone who operates their own music tutoring business, a musician who would like to establish their own business, or a university student with the relevant skills.

Responsibilities of the Brass Tutor include:

  • Build positive relationships with the College’s young musicians, from beginner to advanced.
  • Tutor brass students in weekly lessons scheduled throughout the school day.
  • Demonstrate and teach sound instrumental technique.
  • Demonstrate music literacy and general musical skill.
  • Promote learning as something to be enjoyed.
  • Assist Creative Arts Coordinator with instrument allocation/returns/needs.
  • Prepare Creative Arts reports each semester.
  • Maintain lesson attendance records.
  • Liaise with parents regarding lesson content and progress.

About You

To be successful in attaining this contract, you will havecurrent positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card), current Public Liability Insurance and an ABN.

You will also have:

  • An appropriate level of experience and performing skill across a range of different brass instruments.
  • An ability to effectively teach brass instruments to individual students and small groups.
  • An ability to effectively plan lessons for beginner to advanced instrumental students.
  • A desire to build the instrumental program at Calvary Christian College and support the vision to expand the arts culture across the College.
  • Reliability including punctuality for all rehearsals, performances and lessons.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and organisational skills including the ability to cope with changing priorities.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with an ability to collaborate and work effectively in a small team.
  • An enthusiastic desire and resolute commitment to adhere to College policies and procedures.
