Calvary Teaching School, part of the Calvary Education Group, provides a Christ-focused, innovative and practical teacher training program where Pre-Service Teachers are placed in a classroom from the first day of their degrees. Through a partnership with Christian Heritage College, Calvary Teaching School provides teacher training opportunities for prospective teachers using an embedded practice model of teacher education.

The Opportunity

Due to growth to the next stage of our plan, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Service Teacher to join our Team on a permanent, Part-Time (Term-Time only) basis starting 20 January 2025! You will spend time in a classroom every week, under the guidance of a mentor teacher at Calvary Christian College, providing a rich opportunity to learn skills and strategies whilst engaging in your university studies. 

Pre-Service Teachers completing a Bachelor’s degree will experience 450 days of school-based experience and Pre-Service Teachers completing their Master's will experience 240 days of school-based experience in several schools throughout their degree, providing a breadth of experience. School communities offer the support and challenge necessary to encourage personal growth, confidence and development of the craft of teaching.

Core duties:

• Work in partnership with the Calvary Education Group, Christian Heritage College and the Calvary Teaching School in a professional manner, with a spirit of excellence. 
• Attend all CHC lectures and GRIP Sessions unless otherwise approved by the Teaching School Coordinator or the Head of the Teaching School.
• Actively work towards demonstrating progress in line with the Teaching Standards through the recording of observations, reflections and target setting with the support of the Mentor Teacher.
• Demonstrate initiative within the classroom and school community to ensure a breadth of experience and to support the staff in all aspects of school life.

Remuneration and Benefits

As a Calvary Teaching School Pre-Service Teacher you will receive a generous hourly rate ranging from of $37.77 to $41.46! You will work 15 hours a week over two days - get paid to work while you study!

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a current Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card).

All Calvary Team Members also have the ability to demonstrate a Christian worldview and actively support the Christian ethos of the College. You will need to provide a Pastoral Reference on application.

It is a requirement that you are eligible to begin your employment as a Pre-Service Teacher from 20 January 2025. You will need to be eligible and willing to undertake your study online through Christian Heritage College. This position is best suited to someone studying full-time.
