About us...
The Calvary Teaching School provides a Christ-focused, innovative and practical teacher training program where Pre-Service Teachers are placed in a classroom from the first day of their degrees. With the care and supervision of a dedicated Mentor Teacher, Pre-Service Teachers experience first-hand the rhythm of a school year within a supportive Christian school community.
Through a partnership with Christian Heritage College, Calvary Teaching School provides teacher training opportunities for prospective teachers using an embedded practice model of teacher education. Pre-service teachers spend time in classrooms every week, under the guidance of a mentor teacher, providing a rich opportunity to learn skills and strategies whilst engaging in their university studies.

Calvary Teaching School began with the conviction that Christian Pre-Service Teachers should be supported by a training facility that shares their values and that works in partnership with them to produce outstanding Graduate Teachers who become an influence for good in their world.
About the role...
Pre-Service Teachers completing a Bachelor’s degree will undertake approximately 450 days of school-based experience, while those completing a Master’s degree will complete around 240 days across a variety of school settings. This breadth of experience supports the development of confidence, capability, and the craft of teaching. Our school communities provide both support and challenge to encourage ongoing personal and professional growth.
Core Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Calvary Education Group, Christian Heritage College (CHC), and the Calvary Teaching School, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to excellence.
- Attend all CHC lectures and GRIP sessions, unless otherwise approved by the Teaching School Coordinator or Head of Teaching School.
- Actively demonstrate progress against the Teaching Standards through ongoing observation, reflection, and goal setting, in partnership with your Mentor Teacher.
- Show initiative within the classroom and wider school community to gain a broad range of experiences and support staff across all aspects of school life.

To be successful in this role, you will have a current Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card) and demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting the mission, vision, and values of Calvary Christian College.
As a member of the Team, you will be able to articulate and model a Christian worldview, actively contributing to and supporting the Christian ethos of the College. Applicants will be required to provide a Pastoral Reference as part of the application process.
