About us...
Eaton College is a special-purpose educational facility for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are a close-knit education community - on one site in beautiful Mt Louisa, Townsville - we provide a strong educational and social foundation for our students, and provide connection for our community.
Eaton College opened it's doors on July 10, 2023 with 15 students in year levels from Prep to 4. The full capacity of Stage 1 caters for up to 40 students with class sizes at a maximum of 10 students. Over time the College has the capacity to extend up to Year 10, with the addition of 40 students per additional Stage 2 and Stage 3 respectively. The maximum capacity of Eaton College is 120 students, and this is expected to be reached over a 10-year period.
Eaton College provides purpose built facilities and a learning environment to support the sensory needs and routines for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

About the role...
Due to growth to the next stage of our plan, we have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Primary Classroom Teacher to join our Team on a permanent, full-time basis starting Term 1, 2026!
The role of the Primary Classroom Teacher is to provide excellent education for students with Autism, working towards quality of life and focusing on educational outcomes within the College’s Biblical framework and in accordance with the Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements.
Core duties:
- Understand the philosophy of Christian Education and translate it into practice.
- Plan and prepare effective, quality teaching and learning programs and practices, which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the College’s pedagogical framework and policies.
- Create a nurturing and engaging learning environment, which is inclusive, learner-centered and academically stimulating.
- Add value to the educational experience by initiating and leading curricular and extra-curricular activities which provide excellent opportunities for students to develop Christian character and grow to their full potential intellectually, physically, spiritually and socially.

What we are looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will have a current Queensland Teachers Registration or the ability to obtain one with the appropriate qualifications and availability to start in Term 1, 2026.
You will have experience which demonstrates excellent, current classroom teaching techniques and practices that meet diverse needs and learning styles of students and are consistent with relevant curriculum and policies, with specific experience of working with students with Autism.
You will have:
- Ability to create a culture of learning and achievement through effective planning, student management, classroom resource organisation and engaging learning strategies.
- Exemplary professional manner, interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
- Patience and a high degree of understanding and compassion.
